Specialized Pathology Laboratories (SPL) is an independent and specialty-specific pathology laboratory. Our pathologists,
all of who have received hands-on training via prestigious fellowships, are seasoned at diagnosing a vast array of diseases, and do so routinely on an almost daily basis. We pride ourselves on providing our patients with the highest quality of care in the most effective and efficient manner possible.  Our testing process is thorough, drawing on ancillary testing to get the accurate and necessary results.   We not only work with the best medical specialists in the field to properly assess and diagnose the conditions affecting our patients, but also we aid in the cultivation of a treatment plan that considers  total wellness and propels patients forward in the recovery process. We provide follow up with phone calls to physicians on all cancer diagnoses, urgent and unusual cases. Moreover, we consult with world renowned experts for second opinion when required. SPL maintains a total focus on customer service, because our core mission is to serve the patient; all else is secondary. If the patients and their care giver are unhappy, so are we. Because of this innate focus on customer service,
we avail staff to our patients for questions, general consultations and feedback through the day during normal business hours. We draw on our state-of-the-art online databases to get results quickly and maintain information on patients.

MEET OUR DIRECTOR

Dr. Arain is a board certified, highly qualified and experienced pathologist. Her professional experience as a full time gastrointestinal and liver pathologist extends over five years. During which she had the opportunity to review and diagnose challenging and complex cases on a regular basis. Dedicated and committed to improving the standards of pathology practice, she has established Specialized Pathology Laboratories as one of the best laboratories in Southern California.
Her professional experience also include Medical Laboratory Director; leverage in-depth knowledge of administrative issues and cost effectiveness of laboratory testing, quality assurance, and compliance issues, among others. Currently, Dr. Arain is serving as a member of Medical Review Board for EBSCO Publishing.

Dr. Arain was trained at the nation’s finest pathology departments offering the most sophisticated laboratory methods
under the direction of internationally known scholars. Dr Arain graduated from David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA,
Los Angeles as Klaus Lewin Fellow in GI/Liver Pathology.  She also has a Cytopathology Fellowship from University
of California Irvine with special interest in gastrointestinal cytology, including endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration cytology, where she has served as a Pathology Research Associate. She completed her pathology training at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

She is author of numerous publications and presentations on molecular cancer research, anorectal epithelial malignancies, steatosis in chronic hepatitis, nuclear morphometry, molecular biomarkers of actinic keratosis and cytomorphology of squamous intraepithelial lesions which has been rated among top ten most highly accessed of all time. She had also  lectured weekly at the University of California in Los Angeles and Irvine.  Over her long career she has been honored
with the Outstanding Poster Presentation Award by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and she’s the recipient of Warren R. Lang, M.D. Resident Physician Award by the American Society of Cytopathology. She has been awarded the Honorable Mention at Los Angeles Society of Pathologists. Dr. Arain is a proud member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Society of Cythopathology, US College of American Pathologists and the US Canadian Academy of Pathology.

As the head of the Specialized Pathology Laboratories, Dr. Arain’s  focus is on gastrointestinal and liver pathology.
Her outstanding and proved diagnostic abilities have helped many surgical centers, endoscopy suites, pathologists and hospitals accurately diagnose difficult cases and provide better medical treatments.

Today, Dr. Arain is the proud leader of a truly wonderful team of experts. Despite the huge responsibility involved, she
enjoys every moment of her work. She is always current with the industry's standards and changes, possessing an
endless appetite for knowledge. Specialized Pathology Laboratories is in fact the culmination of her rich career and outstanding professional achievements.
